Citra merek itu sendiri dibentuk dari adanya realitas yang ada sehingga jika suatu produk melakukan sesuatu pemasaran berupa iklan haruslah sesuai dengan apa yang ada di dalam produk tersebut. Hal ini membuat citra merek merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam memenangkan pasar terhadap konsumen. Citra merek <em>(brand image<\/em>) dibangun berdasarkan kesan, imajinasi, pemikiran maupun pengalaman yang dialami seseorang pada suatu merek yang akhirnya akan membentuk sikap terhadap merek yang bersangkutan.<\/p>\n<p>Membangun <em>brand image<\/em> bukanlah suatu hal yang mudah, butuh waktu bertahun-tahun untuk melekatkan suatu citra merek ke benak masyarakat. \u00a0Banyaknya persaingan di dunia industri membuat <em>brand image<\/em> sebagai senjata yang ampuh untuk memenangkan persaingan dunia bisnis. Orang rela membayar mahal karena suatu merek, mereka sudah percaya dengan merek tersebut pasti memiliki produk dengan kualitas yang bagus. Orang akan lebih mudah suatu produk karena adanya merek yang melekat pada barang tersebut. \u00a0<em>Brand image <\/em>membuat sebuah <em>brand<\/em> tetap bertahan menjadi brand yang lebih dipercaya daripada suau barang tanpa brand.<\/p>\n<p>Citra merek yang baik membuat suatu perusahaan dan <em>brand<\/em> yang dimilikinya memiliki nilai lebih, karena hal tersebut membuat terbentuknya rasa kepercayaan dan komitmen pelanggan terhadap suatu produk dari <em>brand<\/em> itu sendiri. Citra merek itu sendiri dibentuk berdasarkan kualitas dan mutu yang terbaik serta tingkat tinggi rendahnya harga yang dikeluarkan atau banyak sedikitnya jumlah harga yang dikeluarkan oleh konsumen. Dari situlah konsumen lebih memilih untuk membeli suatu barang yang bermerek dan mempunyai nilai yang baik, karena konsumen merasa aman jika memilih suatu brand yang memiliki citra merek yang baik pula.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam proses pengembangan citra merek, harus diketahui bahwa merek yang kuat memiliki identitas yang jelas. Konsumen umumnya menginginkan sesuatu yang unik dan khas yang berhubungan dengan merek. Ketidakcocokan citra merek dengan harapan konsumen akan memberikan kesempatan kepada pesaing. <em>Brand image<\/em> yang kuat di benak pelanggan dibentuk dari 3 unsur, yaitu: keungulan asosiasi merek (<em>Favorability of brand association<\/em>), kekuatan asosiasi merek (<em>strength of brand association<\/em>) dan keunikan asosiasi merek (<em>uniqueness of brand
